
Following a career as a chartered health and safety practitioner, David qualified as a solicitor in 2005. A regulatory solicitor, David specialises in information assurance and cyber-security and he is a dual-qualified Information Law Solicitor and Information Security Practitioner.
David has extensive health and community care experience, gained working for a leading primary and secondary care provider law firm, in-house at an NHS Foundation Trust (where he sat on the Caldicott Panel), and in community care, advising on data protection, freedom of information, environmental information and on common law confidentiality, as well as on care regulation and health and safety.
David represents care providers being investigated by the police, CQC and ICO, in relation to data and regulatory breaches and cyber-attacks. David also represents care providers and individuals at police and regulator interviews with the CQC, HSE/local authority Environmental Health Departments and ICO interviews and in First-tier Tribunal (Information Rights) and Magistrates Court proceedings.
Commended by clients for his practical, down to earth approach and clear advice, David undertakes DPO and due information assurance diligence work and he assists organisations to comply with their information assurance, cyber-security and care regulation obligations. Additionally, David provides partnership, company and trustee board and senior management information assurance training.
David is in the final stages of a second Masters degree and he is undertaking research for a PhD.
