James Thorne has over 20 years experience as a commercial solicitor, and has dealt with most aspects of commercial law from mergers and acquisitions and public procurement tenders to stock exchange listings and privatisations.
James’s work with GPs, dentists, pharmacies and other primary care practitioners has included; reviewing and negotiating NHS contracts; setting up the governance and constitution of a variety of GP Federations, PCNs and other provider companies; preparing partnership deeds and associate agreements; resolving partnership disputes; negotiating practice and business mergers and acquisitions; preparing pharmacy licence applications; advising on and drafting CCG Constitutions; advising on appropriate business vehicles; and dealing with commercial negotiations and disputes.
James’ particular strengths are his exceptional understanding of commercial law and the NHS Regulations, his excellent drafting skills, and his ability to distil clear commercial advice and solutions to clients, rather than preparing extensive legal treatises.
James is an Oxford University law graduate, and spent his first 7 years as a solicitor working with the international law firm Linklaters in their London and Tokyo offices. James’ other interests include his family and three children, rugby coaching, and a number of other sporting and natural history pursuits.
